Super Size Me

Documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock makes himself a test subject in this documentary about the commercial food industry. After eating a diet of McDonald's fast food three times a day for a month straight Spurlock proves the physical and mental effects of consuming fast food. Spurlock also provides a look at the food culture in America through it's schools corporations and politics. "Super Size Me" is a movie that sheds a new light on what has become one of our nation's biggest health problems: obesity.System Requirements:Running Time: 100 Min.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: DOCUMENTARIES/MISC. Rating: PG-13 UPC: 043396085435 Manufacturer No: 08543

Filmmaker Morgan Spurlock, rejected five times by the USC film school, won the best director award at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival for this alarmingly personal investigation into the health hazards wreaked by our fast food nation. Under extensive medical supervision, Spurlock subjects himself to a steady diet of McDonald's cuisine for 30 days just to see what happens. In less than a week, his ordinarily fit body and equilibrium undergo dark and ugly changes: Spurlock grows fat, his cholesterol rockets north, his organs take a beating, and he becomes subject to headaches, mood swings, symptoms of addiction, and lessened sexual energy. The gimmick is too obvious to sustain a feature documentary; Spurlock actually spends most of the film probing insidious ways that fast food companies worm their way into school lunchrooms and the hearts of young children who spend hours in McDonald's playrooms. French fries never looked more nauseating. --Tom Keogh

Nim's House

Nim's House

This is the little house set up i originally designed for Bailey.

She was at a stage when she was very territorial and thought my whole room was her 'turf' and wouldn't let the cat set foot anywhere on the floor. Poor pippi had to move around the room by jumping from object to object without touching the floor or risk some pretty nasty head butts.

I wanted a big cage for her, but I am still at home (hurray for desperately poor student-life) so as you can imagine, space is VERY limited and there was NO WAY i had room for a proper cage.. but i didn't want her having no room.... plus i kinda really needed a bedside table.... finally, baileys FAVOURITE spot was definitely under my bed... i guess because it was nice and safe feeling... So i thought about all those factors and this cage is what i came up with.

The bottom section takes up most of under my bed, allowing the bunny plenty of room to stretch out and also acting as a nice, dark and safe 'retreat spot'. The bedside bit is two levels (connected by a ramp because bailey didn't jump), and contains another door so that i can cuddle bunny in bed and then it can just hop straight in the cage itself when ready (this was all designed for bailey, who couldn't do big jumps, Nimbus barely bothers with the upper door because the bed jump is easy for him) , plus i could pat bunny through the wires while going to sleep.

The front part closes up completely for whenever i need to 'lock up' for the day. Typically i leave the doors open with my bunny free range though and just have the house area as a 'home base' kinda set up.

This set up has worked nicely for me and uses VERY little space yet still gives the bunny plenty of room. I recommend for anyone with limited space that still wants a good sized cage . It was really cheap to make, i just used cube-shelf things for the bedside bit and doors, and wire cupboard shelf things for the walls underneath the bed. Both bailey and now Nimbus are very happy with it and both go in their by preference for nap time.

P.S. So sorry it's messy in this shot! Should have cleaned up better first *blush*

Living Room

Living Room

Still setting up the living room but here it is so far. The only new items are the new Lazy Boy Gracie couch and the throw from Lori. The love seat is supposed to show up on Wed - I didn't buy it initially but room looks odd without it. This is definitely a Pete sized couch, 99" long by 46" wide. I don't have a current photo of the family room other than the fireplace photo.

A Matter of Size

Four overweight friends from the Israeli city of Ramle are fed up of dieting and the dieting club they belong to. When Herzl (155 kilos), the main protagonist, loses his job as a cook and starts working as a dishwasher in a Japanese restaurant in Ramle he discovers the world of Sumo where large people such as himself are honored and appreciated. Through Kitano (60 kilos), the restaurant owner, a former Sumo coach in Japan (who is supposedly hiding from the Yakuza in Israel), he falls in love with a sport involving "two fatsos in diapers and girly hairdos". Herzl wants Kitano to be their coach but Kitano is reluctant - they first have to earn their spurs. "A Matter of Size" is a comedy about a 'coming out' of a different kind - overweight people learning to accept themselves.
